Read full description of the books Iceberg:
Iceberg, the third installement in the Dirk Pitt series reveals a dark side of Pitt not seen in Cussler's first two books.
As he searches for, and discovers the subterfuge with the mysterious boat inside the iceberg, he travels to Iceland and exposes a sinister international plot. But, he also takes a rollercoaster ride of emotions as he deals with the person behind the operation, a man who is ruthless and cruel.
A dark side of Pitt is revealed as he witnesses, first hand Rondheim's sadistic punishment. Revenge is the name of the game for Pitt. "At least we evened up the score a bit." Pitt should have felt sick, but his conscience didn't trouble him. Revenge -- he and Sandecker had acted out of desire for self-preservation and revenge. They had made a down payment to avenge ... Excitement is of a different kind in this tale - romance and seduction taking a back seat to Pitt's desire to inflict his own torture on the enemy.
The realization that things ... and people are not what they appear on the surface sends Pitt on a collision course to fight his enemy face to face and placate the dark-soul that emerges from within. A fabulous story from beginning to end and a deeper look into Pitt's revealing character.

Cussler is an internationally recognized authority on shipwrecks and the founder of the National Underwater and Marine Agency, (NUMA) a 501C3 non-profit organization (named after the fictional Federal agency in his novels) that dedicates itself to preserving American maritime and naval history. In September, 1998, NUMA - which turns over all artifacts to state and Federal authorities, or donates them to museums and universities - launched its own web site for those wishing more information about maritime history or wishing to make donations to the organization. (www.numa.net).
In addition to being the Chairman of NUMA, Cussler is also a fellow in both the Explorers Club of New York and the Royal Geographic Society in London. He has been honored with the Lowell Thomas Award for outstanding underwater exploration.
