Read full description of the books Family Ties:
This is the second book in the "Cop in The Family" series. The first was "Family Secrets" and was a very, VERY good book. Brady (the main character in this story) was introduced in the first one. I admit to not liking him very much and having a hard time seeing him as someone I would want to read about as the main male character in his own story. While that opinion changed (somewhat) as I got into this story, it was still there in the background.
Brady meets Gina under unusual circumstances. Their attraction is immediate. Brady is a detective and Gina is a waitress at a strip club. While I liked Gina okay, I had a difficult time with her. Not with her character or what she did for a living. I always have issues with books where one character keeps a very obvious secret from the other. Not just a secret but one that will obviously blow up in his/her face. It's like a "duh!" moment when you see these characters keeping it from the other. Brady is a cop. Obviously he would figure it out, right? It actually took me longer to get through this book because of that when in reality I should have just kept on until everything came out. I other words, I did not exactly feel that I HAD to get back to it. Odd considering that I usually read books rather quickly. I am not saying this was a bad book. Far from it actually. But certain things just annoy me. That is one of them.
While the story flowed smoothly, I felt that everything came together at the end too nicely. I will not give the story or the ending away but when everything came together I was like "HUH? Seriously? That's it?" Oh, it ended WELL and everything was explained VERY WELL. It's the attitudes of some of the players that got me. As I said, it ended too nicely.
I have a problem with books that go through all the drama, etc. and then when the ending comes it's very unrealistic.
I have become a fan of this author. I love her writing style and I love how she doesn't shy away from certain things. I hate being the one who doesn't give this 5 stars as I see that I am the only one. But as much as I really enjoyed this book, I can't do it just to do it.
I look forward to reading more from this author. I'm just sorry I can't give this one the same rating as I did the first one.
Read information about the authorJamie Hill was born and raised in a beautiful, mid-sized town in Midwest, USA. At various times she wanted to be a veterinarian, teacher, cheerleader, TV star or a famous singer. The one thing she always wanted to be was a writer. Starting at about age ten, she penned romance as she envisioned it in one spiral notebook after another.
When she's not working at the day job she loves, Jamie enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching movies (the scarier the better!) In her ‘spare time’ she can often be found writing, editing, or doing something more mundane like housework. After that, she's probably taking a nap. She loves to hear from readers, so feel free to drop her a line.
